Fluorosilicone O-Ring (FMVQ) Material Description
Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) is like side chains of silicone rubber, bonding trifluoropropyl, methyl and vinyl. The mechanical and physical properties are similar to VMQ. However, FVMQ offers improved fuel and mineral oil resistance, but less hot air resistance than standard VMQ.
Fluorosilicone is the material resulting from the compounding of fluoroelastomer (FKM) and silicone. With great compression set and performance in high and low temperatures, fluorosilicone o-rings are becoming more widely accepted for general purpose use. Nonetheless, fluorosilicone o-rings are most commonly utilized in aerospace applications, especially with high regard to its resistance to jet fuel. Fluorosilicone o-rings have low abrasion resistance and are preferred for use in static environments.
Fluorosilicone o-rings typically are blue in color, with an unlimited shelf life. Global O-Ring and Seal’s standard fluorosilicone compound is FDA-compliant. We also offer a UL-157 fluorosilicone compound.
Cure system: Peroxide-Cured
Standard FVMQ compounds are metal peroxide-cured.
Fluorosilicone O-Ring Temperature Range:
Standard Low Temp: -60°C (-76°F)
Standard High Temp: 177°C (350°F)
